Man Behid Devinarayan Granites Ltd
A businessman, originally a lawyer, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in the Natural Stone sector in 1982.
His initial venture involved stone crushing and supplying aggregates to construction companies.
Subsequently, he secured government contracts for civil and road laying works with the Chennai Corporation.
Encouraged by his visionary father, Late Shri M.G. Narayanaswamy, he entered the granite sector, starting with quarrying and international trade.
The first major project was operating a Black granite quarry in Dharamapuri District, exporting to Japan in 1986 through Nichinan Trading Company, Japan.
His passion for colored granite led to involvement with M/s Granimpex P Ltd, supplying sought-after varieties like Paradiso, Multicolour, Indian Juparana, and BashParadiso.
The promotion of Lavender Blue from Orissa and Kashmir White from Madurai further solidified his presence in the global granite market.
Devinarayan Exporters(p) Ltd, founded by him along with his three younger brothers, dominated granite exports to Europe and far eastern countries.
The flagship company now owns quarries in Vizag Blue and aims to acquire quarries in Orissa.
Devinarayan Granites Ltd, initiated in 1998, focuses on value-adding to granite and exporting monuments, memorials, artifacts, slabs, and tiles worldwide. We are recognized as one of the leading granite exporters in Tamil Nadu serving global clients with premium-quality stone products.
Through a long-term partnership with Ms. Stein Von Grein (Austria), a 150-year-old stone company, we’ve built a strong global reputation in stone artistry.
We are exploring new avenues in infrastructure-grade stone elements — including paving stones, kerbs, benches, and more — to serve urban design projects globally.
The company also explores exporting handcrafted stone memorials and fusion furniture in natural stone.
On the social front, Mr. Mahesh is a philanthropist and thrice-elected President of the Tamil Nadu Granite Quarry Owners Exporters Association.
He serves as a Regional Committee Member (Stone Panel) for Capexil (sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce), Government of India, and an Executive Committee Member of the Federation of Granite Stone Industry.
Recognizing the importance of conserving granite as a special mineral, he actively works toward minimizing ecological and social impact, while promoting sustainable practices across the stone trade, benefitting over 1000 quarry owners and more than six lakh workers in Tamil Nadu.
