Description

About Kashmir White Granite

Kashmir White Granite is a natural stone from India with a soft white to off-white base, fine grey and charcoal grains, and small, round burgundy dots of garnet. The grey grains run in loose, flowing streaks across the slab and the garnet dots are scattered through them, so the surface looks light and calm, with a touch of warmth up close.

Those garnet dots set it apart from the other light granites in our range. Viscount White is white with grey swirls, where the grey forms bolder, wavier movement. Colonial Gold has burgundy specks too, but on a creamy gold to beige base with grey streaks, so it reads warm rather than white. Multicolour Cream has cream tones with red, grey and brown streaks, and Siva Gold is golden-yellow with flowing brown and grey veins. Kashmir White is the softest and whitest of them: a white ground, fine grey grains and burgundy garnet dots.

Its bright, light colour suits white granite countertops and islands. With navy, charcoal and sage green cabinets it gives a crisp contrast, with oak and walnut it keeps the kitchen warm, and with white cabinets it gives an all-light look. It also works for bathroom vanity tops, flooring and wall cladding, and for headstones and memorials, where our hereditary sculptors can engrave lettering and hand-carve designs.

It is a hard-wearing stone that resists scratches. Like most light granites, it benefits from sealing, which helps keep oil, wine and coffee from soaking in, and simple cleaning keeps it looking good. Shade, grain and the number of garnet dots vary between blocks, so we match slabs and tiles by batch for each order, which matters on long counters, islands and large floors.

Yes, sealing is recommended. Light granites can take up spills more readily than dark ones, and a sealer helps keep oil and other liquids from soaking in. How often to reseal depends on the finish and how much the surface is used.

Polished shows the grey grains and garnet dots most clearly. Honed is a smooth matte finish and leathered has a soft texture. Flamed makes the surface whiter, paler and rougher, so it suits steps, paving and cladding more than counters.
