Why Choose

Why Choose Tan Brown Granite?

A dark brown granite from India for kitchen countertops, islands, vanity tops, floors and memorials.

  • Large Round Crystals on a Dark Ground

Rounded chocolate and burgundy crystals sit on a deep brown-black ground, giving a warm, dark surface with a bold crystal pattern rather than a fine speckle.

  • Hides Crumbs and Everyday Marks

The dark ground and busy pattern help hide crumbs, water marks and fingerprints, which suits dark brown granite countertops, islands and bar tops.

  • Hard-Wearing and Resists Scratches

A hard granite for kitchens, vanity tops and floors. Sealing it now and then helps keep oil and other spills from soaking in.

  • Four Surface Finishes

Polished, honed, leathered or flamed. A polished face shows the deepest brown and the crystals most clearly.

Description

About Tan Brown Granite

Tan Brown Granite is a natural stone from India with a deep brown-black ground and large, rounded feldspar crystals in chocolate and burgundy, a reddish-brown tone. Smaller copper-brown, black and grey grains fill the spaces between them, so the surface looks dark and warm, with a bold crystal pattern spread evenly across the slab.

Those round crystals set it apart from the other granites in our range. Colonial Gold is a creamy gold stone with grey streaks and burgundy specks, Siva Gold is golden-yellow with flowing brown and grey veins, Black Galaxy is black with small golden specks, and Absolute Black is a plain deep black. Tan Brown sits between the gold and the black granites: dark like the blacks but warm brown, and patterned with large crystals rather than specks or veins. Buyers sometimes compare it with Baltic Brown, a brown granite from Finland with similar round crystals.

Its dark, warm colour suits kitchen countertops, islands and bar tops. With white, cream and light oak cabinets it gives a strong contrast, and with cherry and dark wood it gives an all-warm look. It also works for bathroom vanity tops, flooring and wall cladding, and for headstones and memorials, where our hereditary sculptors can engrave lettering and hand-carve designs.

It is a hard-wearing stone that resists scratches, and its dark, busy pattern helps hide crumbs and everyday marks. Sealing it now and then helps keep oil and other spills from soaking in, and simple cleaning keeps it looking good. Crystal size and shade vary between blocks, so we match slabs and tiles by batch for each order, which matters on long counters, islands and large floors.

Finishes

Tan Brown Granite Surface Finishes

Each finish changes how dark the brown looks and how clearly the crystals show.

  • Polished: a glossy face with the deepest brown-black and the clearest crystals
  • Honed: a smooth matte face with a softer, slightly lighter brown
  • Leathered: a soft, textured face with a satin sheen that keeps the crystals visible
  • Flamed: a lighter brown-grey, rougher surface with more grip for steps, paving and cladding; it dulls the crystal pattern
